This year, the UN International Women’s Day 2026 (IWD 2026), adopted the theme,: “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”. It calls for action to dismantle all barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls.
Nowadays, no nation has closed the legal gaps between men and women. Right now, women and girls have just 64 per cent of the legal rights of men worldwide. In fundamental areas of life, including work, money, safety, family, property, mobility, business, and retirement – the law systematically disadvantages women.
Women and girls are living without full legal Rights.
and When justice fails, women pay the price

Women’s rights mean nothing if we cannot defend them.
International Women’s Day 2026 comes at a time when justice systems are under strain. According to the UN Women campaign, “Conflict, repression, and political tensions are weakening the rule of law. Women are turned away, not believed, revictimized, or priced out of legal support. Equality never arrives. “
The UN found out that, in nearly 70 per cent of surveyed countries, women face more barriers accessing justice than men.
If a woman Can’t afford a lawyer? then Justice denied. Legal fees, transportation, childcare, lost wages have keep millions of women locked out of justice systems. Also, if a woman Want to report an injustice? then she needs to prepared to be ignored, disbelieved, or – worse – blamed and silenced.
For the 676 million women and girls living within 50 km of active conflict zones, justice systems are largely absent and perpetrators act with impunity.
Without justice, rights are just words. With justice, rights become power.
- Courts that believe ALL women and girls and end impunity.
- Laws that protect women and girls from violence, discrimination, and exploitation.
- Legal aid that women and girls can access and afford.
- Support to recover when rights are violated.
